Biography

Originally from Montreal and a resident of the Eastern Townships for the past 15 years, I live in nature, fully immersed in the present moment. I have lived in St-Étienne-de-Bolton for 11 years. I fell in love with botanical prints on paper during the summer of 2022. Since then, I have continued to deepen my knowledge of the different ways to print plants on paper and fabric. During 2023 and 2024, I took several botanical printing workshops on fabric with Marie-Eve Dion from Marie-les-Bains. Since then, my botanical prints on paper and fabric have taken on a new dimension thanks to plant-based dyes and flowers with dyeing properties. I used different baths of plant dye to achieve various effects on fabric. In January 2025, I took a workshop on the cyanotype technique, a printing process using cyan blue. It was a transitional year, moving from botanical prints to the cyanotype technique. Now I dedicate my time to this technique on fabric and paper.

Cyanotype is a photographic process invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel. Monochrome images in shades of Prussian blue are obtained by exposing a photosensitive chemical solution to UV rays. This technique is environmentally friendly.

Jacinthe transforms the wonders of nature into works of art through her botanical prints. She delicately gathers, presses, composes, and prints creations inspired by living things on paper. Whether using direct printing techniques or cyanotype, her works reconnect us to the raw beauty of local flora.
