Garden sculptures and paintings
Biography and approach
After a successful career in finance, Liane decided to pursue her second passion: art. Being creative has always been a part of her life. When she worked in finance, art allowed her to find balance, counterbalancing her analytical side.
Since 2005, Liane has taken numerous courses in pastel drawing, painting, watercolor and sculpture at the Dollard des Ormeaux Arts Center, the Visual Arts Center - Westmount, Bishops University and, among others, private lessons with renowned artist Richard Bélanger.
Liane is a certified trainer at Paverpol Canada.
After moving from Montreal to the Eastern Townships full-time in 2011, she devoted more time to developing her passion.
Transitioning from drawing and painting to sculpture was a four-year process, beginning with sculpture courses at Bishops University. “Moving from two-dimensional to three-dimensional artwork allows me to further utilize my analytical and conceptual skills. The challenge of figuring out how to build strong support structures on my larger pieces has fueled my passion.” Most of the sculptures are designed to withstand Canadian winters. “My favorite time of year is the winter months, spent cooped up in my studio, preparing new sculptures to be taken out into the gardens next summer.”
