 Biography

Radio man Raymond Desmarteau has spent over thirty years behind the microphone, across the country and around the world. After a career as a singer-songwriter and two album releases, including one in France, he was a host at CIEL-MF and the morning show host at Radio-Canada in Vancouver and Toronto. He also appeared on RFC in Lahr, Germany, before becoming its programming director.

At Radio Canada International (RCI), he was in turn director and producer of the 1995 referendum evening and then of the national elections of 1997 and 2000. Responsible for partnerships, he provided English and French reports to some 60 English-language radio stations and more than 160 French-language, community and associative stations in the United States, Europe, Africa and Oceania. Still at RCI, he was also anchor and host of the daily TamTam Canada for seven years and then for a few seasons at Radio Classique Montréal. With Éditions GID, he published Des jardins de jachère (2014), a novel, and Chroniques du bout de ma rue (2019), a collection of short stories and La mémoire des saules, a novel (2021).

Des jardins de jachère (2014) and Chroniques du bout de ma rue (2019) were also published in France.
